Toward a Cleaner, Greener Nepal

Doko Recyclers came into existence at a time when waste in Kathmandu was being looked at from a serious lens. Growing urbanization and general apathy on waste management issues meant that with every passing year Kathmandu was dumping thousands of tons annually with unconcerned abandon. As landfills grew gargantuan, there was renewed focus on how to structure the sector. Co-founders Kushal Harjani, Raghavendra Mahto, Runit Saria created the initiative out of a common desire to add value to a sector that has largely been a disorganized one, along with strategic advisor Ashma Basnyat, and relationship manager Shivani Saria. The core team had combined experiences in development economics, strategy and technology, computer engineering, urban planning, and social work.
